Having Fun Without Drugs & Alcohol

When it comes to kicking your alcohol or drug addiction, many people worry about having fun during sobriety. While it may seem like the only way to entertain yourself is through drug or alcohol consumption, this is far from the truth. Today, Clear Horizons Healthcare, a local Audubon addiction clinic, is discussing how to have fun with substances and why you should avoid nightlife and certain triggers. If you have any additional questions about how to have fun while sober, feel free to ask during your next visit at Clear Horizons Healthcare. We’re always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Avoiding Nightlife

Staying sober can take a lot of work and avoiding certain situations or trigger is highly recommended. During the beginning of your sobriety, it can be difficult to refrain from the cravings you may experience, exposing yourself to those specific cravings can make the situation even worse. If you do find yourself in a situation where friends or family are having drinks, try a mocktail (they can be a fun way to try something new without having to drink). There are also plenty of activities you can partake in that don’t require any substances at all, visit an arcade, go to the beach, take a hike, paint pottery, the possibilities are endless, you just have to be open to new ideas on your new journey.

Having Sober Fun

As mentioned above, there are plenty of ways to have fun sober. Want to get together with your friends? Invite them over to your place! You can get games, movies and other activities to pass the time and even make mocktails and some snacks. You would be surprised how much fun life can be without altering your state of reality.
